Easiest way to paint the interior or exterior of pane glass windows.

April 15, 2016

If you've ever painted a window with muntins before, you know it's a time consuming task, especially when it needs more than one coat.  The tedious task of getting into the corners at each end, cutting a straight line against the glass, doing it 4 times, and that is just 1 window pane!!

Now just imagine if you have to do it 20 times!! And how many windows do you have?  Starting to sound like a big project?  It is.  Hopefully I can give you some tips to get this done (or you can call me...either way).

First, get all your prep work done, there are no short cuts for this step.  Make sure it's a clean and sound surface.

When your ready for painting, buy yourself a gallon of Masking Liquid H2O.

This can be applied by brush, roller, or sprayer.  Just make sure you apply it thick enough or else it will not peel away in one full sheet when the time comes.  Here is a video I made applying it by brush:

It can be used as a primer on bare wood and other porous surfaces.  For use over existing paint, make sure glossy surfaces are clean and dull.  In the photo below you can see how the drying process looks, the product goes on milky white and dries clear.

Once you have let the masking liquid dry for 4 hours and the finish coats have been applied, it is time for the big reveal......the removal process!  Score carefully and peel away!

Now that you tackled that monster project with ease, it's time to sit back and relax on the porch with a glass of lemonade and think about what you're going to do with all that time you just saved.

Or you can call Arey Painting for the next project @ 410-341-0605.  Book an estimate online @ areypainting.youcanbook.me
