Will my latex paint freeze?

 

 

Yes.

Latex paint (also known as "water based") will freeze at the same temperature as water does (32℉) since there is water inside the can.  It is recommended to prevent your latex paint from freezing by bringing your paint in a temperature- controlled space during the winter months.

For simplicity, the term "latex" will be used in this article to describe water based paint because it is the most commonly used term.  There are more accurate ways to describe certain types of water based products but we will not go into that today.
